With the aim of increasing safety among students, Dr. Aileen G. De Guzman, Head of the University Science High School, collaborated with the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management to organize a seminar on Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and Earthquake Drill. The event took place at the University Science High School, Multi-purpose Gym, Central Luzon State University last August 16, 2023. All students from grades 7 to 12 took part in the said activity.
 
Dr. Shirly C. Serrano, Co-commander of UDRRMC discussed the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (UDRRM) plan, detailing strategies for disaster prevention, mitigation and response. While, Prof. Roberto D. Pelayo, Extension and Environmental Education Sub-Unit Head of ICCEM, played a significant role in leading the earthquake drill and discussing safety measures for practical preparedness, including knowing what to do during and after an earthquake.
 
These initiatives of USHS enhance the knowledge of every student on how to effectively respond to potential disasters and emergency situations. It’s a proactive step towards creating a safer environment.
