The CLSU – Institute of Environmental Governance (CLSU-IEG), presented the technical report on the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Program Phase 2 (EJSRP2) project to Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc. on June 14, 2023.

The research team, headed by Dr. Shirly C. Serrano, project leader, presented the output of the project entitled “Monitoring and Evaluation of Environmental Governance and Law Enforcement Trainings for LGU Department Heads”. Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc. representatives, Atty. Ma. Ronely D. Bisquera-Sheen, Managing Lawyer, Atty. Rolando R. Recto, member of the Board of Trustees, and Mrs. Elena C. Derige, Program Officer were present. Dr. Gella Patria L. Abella, CLSU-IEG Head, Prof. Roberto D. Pelayo and Mr. Daryl Juganas, both project staff, MS. Janah Elvira S. Magpantay and Mr. Joseph Vladimir Gaban, Research Staff were also present during the presentation of report.

The impacts of environmental governance, law enforcement, fiberglass-reinforced boat construction and maintenance, and marine turtle handling and conservation training on local government officials were evaluated. In addition, the best practices and challenges in policy implementation and resource management projects under the Area Specific Action Plan were discussed.

The project was part of the Environmental Justice Sector Reform of the Philippines Project Phase 2 (EJSRP-2) which capacitated the local government units on environmental governance and law enforcement, and improving judiciary members’ knowledge on jurisprudence of environmental laws for biodiversity conservation and environmental protection. It was funded by the US-Department of Interior and US International Narcotics Law.
