Mr. Armand I. Macasakit, Assistant School Participant II of SDNTS, Danjun P. Mariano, SHS-STEM Focal Person (SDNTS), Mr. Mark Anthony R. Cajucom, Work immersion focal person of DJCNHS, Dr. Rubelyn M. Esperon, Chair of Tertiary Studies (OLSHCo), and Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, Head of ICCEM, also joined and served as witnesses during the activity.
Both DJCNHS and SDNTS established a work immersion partnership with CLSU in compliance with the Enhanced Basic Education Act (RA 10533) which was designed to expose the students to a work-related environment related to their chosen field of specialization. This agreement provides the students under the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand with work immersion opportunities.
The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) through the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) signed Memorandum of Agreements (MOA) with Sto. Domingo National Trade School (SDNTS), Doña Juana Chioco National High School (DJCNHS), and Our Lady of Sacred Heart College (OLSHCo) in March 2023 to establish partnerships on work immersion and On-the-Job Training (OJT).
The partnerships were forged through the signing of the MOA by the CLSU University President, Dr. Edgar A. Orden, and respective representatives of the three learning institutions; Ms. Rowena B. Caoile, Vocational School Administrator (SDNTS), Dr. Tresalin C. Cabico, School Principal III (DJCNHS), and Rev. Fr. Michael J. Grospe, President of OLSHCo.
Meanwhile, OLSHCo established an OJT or Practicum agreement with CLSU in compliance with the mandate of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) that requires college students to complete an OJT program. This will provide their students with practice opportunities at CLSU to develop the knowledge and skill required in the workplace.
The MOA agreed upon by CLSU and OLSHCO shall be valid for three years while the MOAs between DJCNHS and SDNTS shall hold for the duration of the 2022-2023 academic school year and is renewable every year.
These partnerships with the three learning institutions will allow students to apply the principles and theories taught in school, enhance their technical knowledge, enrich their communications and human relations skills, and develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work inside CLSU premises.
As the causes and consequences of climate change become more prevalent and intensifying, ICCEM leads these partnerships to capacitate students and future professionals in addressing environmental issues and contributing to climate action efforts.
These collaborations provide a platform to ICCEM and to the entire CLSU community to promote knowledge-sharing and capacity-building among participating educational institutions, contributing to the development of a stronger and more skilled workforce in the region. The partnership between CLSU, SDNTS, DJCNHS, and OLSHCo through ICCEM, was a testament to these Institutions’ commitment to providing quality education to all.
