Five students from Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and four students from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College (OLSHCO) of Guimba Inc. completed an internship program at the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) from February to May 2023.
Student interns from CLSU are currently taking Bachelor of Arts in Literature, Bachelor of Arts in Filipino, and Bachelor of Science in Development Communication. Meanwhile, student interns from OLSHCO study Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
CLSU and OLSCHO students completed the 400 and 500 hours of internship program, respectively under the direct supervision of ICCEM faculty and staff.
During their internship, the students worked with the different ongoing projects of ICCEM such as Project SAFE>GRS>FOSHE, Project SAVE, Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG)- Environmental Justice Sector Reform in the Philippines (EJSRP) Project Phase 2, Environmental Impact Assessment, Gender Empowerment thru Greenhouse Gas Inventory in Barangay Sto. Tomas, San Jose City Nueva Ecija (GreenGain), and Gender-sensitive Central Luzon State University Local Climate Change Action Plan.
OLSCHO interns focused on enhancements of existing ICCEM and Project SAFE websites and the creation of databases to further enhance their practical knowledge and skills in website design, development, and other computer applications. Experiences earned in a real workplace will help them adapt to a rapidly evolving field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Meanwhile, CLSU interns focused on writing news and feature articles, creating publication materials, and making audio-visual presentations to help them build a strong foundation of the principles and theories of writing and communication and its vital role on social media platforms.
Student interns also assisted in the different seminars and activities conducted by ICCEM to build their creativity, ability to plan as well as communication and organization skills.
ICCEM being a multidisciplinary research institution can cater students from different disciplines with extensive learning and firsthand experiences that will be useful in the workplace.
