On March 15, 2024, the 10-day immersion program of ICCEM for students of Doña Juana Chioco National High School and Santo Domingo National Trade School has concluded. During the second week of the program, students were involved in various activities commemorating ICCEM’s 27th Anniversary. These activities included a Ceremonial Tree Planting, an Art Contest, and a Youth Forum on Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Additionally, students were treated to a lecture and hands-on introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), providing them with valuable skills and knowledge in this field. Furthermore, the students had the opportunity to visit the Department of Environmental Science and various Research and Development facilities at CLSU. These included the Center for Tropical Mushroom Research and Development, CLSU Flora and Fauna Analytical and Diagnostic Laboratory, Small Ruminant Center, and Precision and Digital Agriculture Center.
The culmination of the program included an essential Orientation to College & Career with the ICCEM faculty, staff, and interns, where students received guidance and insights to help shape their academic and professional futures. This comprehensive immersion experience not only enriched students’ understanding of natural science but also provided them with valuable skills, experiences, and connections to support their ongoing educational and career journeys.
