Atty. Asis Perez, the former executive director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and now a senior legal adviser for Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc., visited Central Luzon State University (CLSU) today October 12, 2023, to coordinate a training program for IEG (Institute for Environmental Governance) coordinators.
During his visit, Atty. Perez likely met with officials at CLSU, including Dr. Ravelina Velasco, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dr. Edgar A. Orden, University President. These meetings were likely held to discuss and coordinate the upcoming Training of Trainers program.
Dr. Shirly C. Serrano, faculty member and Management Committee member at IEG-CLSU, as well as Mr. Roberto D. Pelayo, another faculty member at IEG-CLSU, are actively supporting and contributing to the coordination efforts during this visit.
The training program, scheduled in February 2024, will focus on building the capacity of IEG coordinators in the participating SUCs, providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to address environmental and sustainability issues in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) and the East Philippine Sea (Benham Rise). The program is expected to cover various topics related to policies, technology, and innovation to promote the well-being of the communities in these regions.
